Whistler Blackcomb, BC

Whistler Blackcomb Whistler Blackcomb offers an experience like no other for skiers and riders of all levels. Whistler Blackcomb hosts the largest skiable terrain in North America at 8,171 acres and features over 200 runs to carve. Both mountains have remarkable diversity in beginner, intermediate and expert slopes, as well as five revolutionary terrain parks, a Super Pipe and a Snow Cross track that are covered in an average snowfall of 402 inches per year.

And, as of December 2008, skiers and riders can now travel from one mountain to the other, without having to visit the base, via the record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, which provides an 11-minute, jaw-dropping trip across both mountains, reaching a record elevation of 1,427 feet over Fitzsimmons Creek and carrying up to 28 occupants.

Improvements for this SeasonNot leaving the record breaking to the Olympic athletes, Whistler Blackcomb’s PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola opened its doors on December 2008, setting three world records while providing an unmatched experience and limitless possibilities for winter and summer resort guests. The Gondola offers breathtaking views of the area over the course of its 11-minute trip and reaches a record-breaking elevation of 1,427 feet over Fitzsimmons Creek.

Speaking of Fitzsimmons Creek, opening this winter is the Fitzsimmons Creek Renewable Energy Project that will offset the total annual energy consumption at Whistler Blackcomb. The Fitzsimmons Creek Renewable Energy Project will produce 33 gigawatt hours per year - the equivalent amount of energy required to power the ski resort’s winter and summer operations including 38 lifts, 17 restaurants, 270 snow guns and countless other buildings and services.

Local Recreation OptionsWhistler is home to more than just 8,171 acres of skiable terrain. We have a great recreation center complete with squash courts, a gym, skating rink and pool facilities. If you’d like to be a bit more adventurous, then snowmobiling, tubing, cross country skiing, dog sledding, sleigh rides and indoor rock climbing are also at your disposal.

Lift Ticket Pricing CommentsLift ticket prices for the 2009.10 winter season will be announced in November so please head to our website http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/tickets/winter/index.htm for the most up-to-date pricing as it becomes available.

If you’re looking for additional discounts on your tickets, you may also want to consider this: if you purchase your lift tickets with a vacation package through either our Vacation Planner, or tour operator, you’ll receive discounted rates. In fact, if you take advantage of our Early Booking Deal, which ends Nov. 15, you can find ticket/accommodation packages for as low as $88 per person, per night. We also introduced this year our Best Price Guarantee, so if you book early, and see a similar package at a better rate later in the year, Whistler Blackcomb will cover the difference. Finally, you can also receive better rates on your tickets when purchased alongside a Ski and Snowboard School lesson or when purchasing for groups of 25 or more.

Rental CommentsWhether you’re a pro skier, or a beginner snowboarder, Whistler Blackcomb has top-of-the-line equipment available for your needs. Book three days prior to your trip to save up to 30 per cent off.
