Three miles from the town is the resort base area of Mt. Crested Butte, a modern ski village complete with lodging, dining, shopping, and conference facilities. The resort and town are connected by a free shuttle bus.

Crested Butte offers some of the steepest lift-served ski terrain in the USA. Extreme Limits is 550 acres of steep and deep, backcountry-style, expert-only skiing and riding. Author/extreme skier Lito Tejada-Flores calls Extreme Limits "the best adventure skiing in the Rockies." Crested Butte is home of Colorado's first X Games, the Annual U.S. Extreme Freeskiing and Boarderfest Championships, the Telemark Festival and the Elk Mountain Grand Traverse. Most of the terrain is ideal for the "everyperson" of skiing and riding, so there is plenty of inspiring terrain for everyone.

Improvements for this Season	The past four years have seen lots of change with over 200 million dollars in capital improvements. With over $25 million in renovations to the Elevation Hotel and Spa, new retail stores, upgraded rental facilities, and expanded terrain on the mountain, Crested Butte's investments represent enhancing our guest experiences and creating legendary service. The new 9380 Prime chop house and Thin Air Sports retail shop are examples of lifting the service and expectaions of our customer. New Kid's facilities and programs, as well as a new Guide Program are part of our extended Mountain Schools programs for this year. Expanded jet service into Gunnison / Crested Butte from Atlanta, Dallas, and Salt Lake City help guests arrive much easier and directly.
Local Recreation Options	Crested Butte offers skiing and snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice skating and sledding. Dogsled Tours and Horse Drawn Sleigh-Rides are also available. Dining, gallery-hopping and shopping are always the best apres ski activity- visit the shops at the Treasury Center, (located slopeside) or, stroll the historic town of Crested Butte for a unique people-watching experience.

Lift Ticket Pricing Comments	The Crested Butte Mountain Resort Ticket Office is located at the Adventure Center (inside the new Lodge at Mountaineer Square), where passes, tickets, and other packages can be arranged.
